Grosvenor House is a Pupil Referral Unit that provides education for pupils in Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8, and 9 only) who have been permanently excluded or referred by their school for a time out placement.
At some time in their educational lives all pupils that attend Grosvenor House will have had a negative experience of the education system. We therefore strive to make every pupils time at Grosvenor House as pleasurable and rewarding as possible in an attempt to re-engage pupils into the education system our aim is therefore to:
ENGAGE – ENTHUSE – REINTERGRATE
We do this by:- Providing a broad and balanced curriculum that reinforces essential skills and provides new opportunities and challenges.
Liasing regularly with pupils, parents and carers.
Emphasising social development to enable pupils to cope with everyday experiences and their next educational placement.
Working closely with all agencies that may be involved in the life of a pupil.
Although we are a small unit each child will follow a set timetable covering all areas of the curriculum. Emphasis is placed on four main areas of study.
• Basic Skills (Literacy, Numeracy, ICT) • Personal Social Health Education • Practical skills (CDT, ART, Cookery) • Sport & Leisure activities
The remaining time is made up with science and humanities based subjects to ensure all pupils have access to the subjects being delivered by mainstream schools.
The use of specialist facilities is made through the use of off site activities for:
